Safely nestled on the Oude Molen Eco Village in Pinelands, Cape Town, “The Nest” offers a place of care and safety for individuals who are living with debilitating illnesses. “The Nest” goes beyond being just a care facility as our trained nurses and carers render holistic Dementia and Frail care.

The multi-disciplinary team at “The Nest, works hard to ensure that every resident is well cared for and enjoys quality of life. Our team of Registered and Enrolled Nurses and/or Enrolled Nursing Assistants render high standard of care, complimented by the care of Care Workers, to ensure one-on-one, 24/7 care. Our team of qualified chefs provide a holistic nutrition solution to complement our nursing care and ensure that every dietary need of the resident is catered for.

The Nest, a living space full of comfort and care

At “The Nest”, individuals are welcomed into a warm, home-like environment, with the choice of a spacious single room or sharing with another resident. Residents are encouraged to bring something personal and a piece of furniture to help them feel more at home.

Our nursing and caring teams are committed to caring for our residents, supervise and participate in meaningful activities in the dining room and taking them on a walk, in our peaceful/tranquil garden.

What you can Expect

“The Nest” offers a 23-bed single or shared rooms, Frail Care Centre, caring for frail and demented residents.
“The Nest” offers a high carer to resident ratio, meaning the residents receive dedicated one on one care.
Our focus, is to encourage and maintain our resident’s independency for as long as possible by means of meaningful activities such as games and walks in the garden.
Regular walks to the horse’s stables are very popular amongst our residents and provide the much-needed Vitamin D and light exercise, to maintain our resident’s health and physical well-being.
3 Nutritional, meals with snacks, tea and coffee, as prepared by our qualified chef, will turn each meal into a culinary experience.
Our Nursing staff keeps a close eye on the effect of our resident’s medication, to ensure quality of life for each resident.

“The Nest” offers short and long-term care to make each resident’s golden years, a special experience.

How do I apply for my loved one to stay at "The Nest"?

Step 1. Step 2. We will send you our application documents and Doctor’s report to be completed by the applicant’s attending doctor, to complete and return to us.

Step 3. Robin Trust staff will review your application and if the application meets the admission criteria, available accommodation will be allocated or your name will added to our waiting list.

In the event that we have no vacancies and accommodation becomes available,

Step 1. The family representative will be contacted immediately

Step 2. The Administrative process is to be completed

Step 3. The patient will be assessed by means of an acuity scale (which determines the level and intensity of care that is required this includes, a fall risk, Waterlow pressure sore, Mini Mental and DQ98 assessment-none of these are invasive procedures😊)

Step 4. Discussion with the family with regards to care needed and expectations from both parties-When everyone is in agreement, a date and time for the move to the Care Centre will be determined.

Please note: Residents and families are encouraged to bring some personal items to make the room more home-like and familiar. This will assist with the transition from home to care community easier and less stressful.

Which persons are best suited to the Nest?
“The Nest” caters for all individuals with frail care needs as well as a specialised focus on those persons living with Dementia.
How long do residents normally stay?
‘The Nest’ is a long-term care facility, but also offers respite care depending on availability of beds and rooms. Most residents never leaves the nest for another care facility.

Our qualified and dedicated team of Registered and Enrolled Nurses and healthcare workers, offer the best in frail and Dementia care. We are committed to constantly expand and grow as experts in this field. We pride ourselves in having an excellent resident-carer ratio which included one on one care. This means there is always a caring staff member around to ensure the safety and well-being of your loved one.

The staff regularly attend congresses, seminars and training courses to keep abreast of developments in this area of patient specific care and service delivery.

We have more than 20 years’ experience in offering the best patient care that speaks to the specific and individual needs of each resident. We are registered with Governing bodies: Department of Social Development as a Residential Care Facility and licenced with Department of Health: Mental Health, as a Community Mental Healthcare Facility “The Nest” strive to uphold the highest standards of care to our residents.
